Fire drill and rescue rehearsal at AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan

In the morning of 03/12/2020, AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan collaborated with the Hai Phong Municipal Police to conduct a large-scale fire drill. This is the first activity to be held at the shopping mall with the purpose of equipping employees with emergency evacuation skills, emergency situation handle in order to ensure absolute safety for all customers and employees at the shopping mall.

The participants were the Representatives of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, relevant agencies and institutions; the Municipal Police; The Embassy of Japan in Vietnam; Fire prevention and fire fighting force; and all employees of AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan.

The simulated situation of the rehearsal was that a short occurring in a cinema room at the 3^rd floor in the west of the shopping mall caused the fire to catch on insulation materials and curtains, which made a strong fire spread to the adjacent areas and the 2^nd floor. The total area burned was 900m2. Immediately, the technicians cut of the electric power in the incident area and operated the water supply pump for firefighting.

At the time of the incident, there were about 500 employees working at the shopping mall, when hearing the fire alarm, a large number of people escaped safely because of the timely guidance of the evacuation team under fire fighting organization of AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan.

At the time, 20 people trapped on the 3rd floor due to toxic smoke were quickly rescued and taken to the on-site first aid area with the support of the shopping mall’s first aid team.

The peak situation of the rehearsal was the prompt rescue of 12 people, who ran up to the 4th floor (rooftop) to call for help and were under a life-threating situation, was conducted by the emergency firefighting department with ladder, crane truck.

*Fire suppression was still being carried out drastically at other fire spread areas of the building*

With the effective and accurate collaboration between the Fire prevention and firefighting team of AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan and firefighters by using firefighting techniques and skillful rescue, after 30 minutes, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished, all victims were rescued to safe places.

At the end of the rehearsal, on behalf of AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan, Mr. Okada Masaki, General Manager of AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and enthusiastic direction from the fire fighting force and all partners participating in the rehearsal and shared his desire to contribute to raising people’s awareness of the importance of fire prevention and firefighting, especially in the context that AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan would officially open in less than 2 weeks.

AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan is the 3rd shopping mall project in the North and the 6th in Vietnam implemented by AEONMALL VIETNAM.
